Resume Checklist
A resume is one of the most important job-search tools, so make sure that yours stands out from the crowd – this is your sales pitch, so it should be written to generate interest. Here are some tips to creating a resume that works for you:
Contact Info
Always include your contact information on the resume. This should include: your full name, address, phone number and email address.
Objective
Briefly outline your goals and objectives for the job that you are seeking
Summary of Skills
Highlight relevant skills, experience, educational background, etc. Pick 6-8 points that complement the employer's requirements for the job. For example, if applying for a customer service position, focus on customer services skills, sales experience, etc.
Experience/Work History
A summary of relevant work experience. Don't forget to include the following information:Education & Training
- Your job title
- Employer's name
- Location
- Date of employment and years worked
- Job responsibilities: this should include your job description, successful projects, and relevant training if any.
Present a timeline of your training and education related to the position. The following information should be included:
- List name of degrees completed or in progress.
- Name of the school and the program completed.
- List any professional courses or certifications acquired along with the dates of completion.
References
